Sensei Scott Evans begun his training in Hakko Denshin Ryu as a self-defense student at the University of Akron. Sensei Evans then began receiving instruction at the Eighth Light Dojo in Akron, Ohio in 1995. In August of 2005, Soke Michael LaMonica invited Sensei Evans to participate in Shihan training. On August 5, 2005 Sensei Evans was awarded the rank of Shihan (master instructor) at our annual Taikai (meeting of the masters).
Sensei Reynolds began studying martial arts at age 14. He began training in Hakko Denshin Ryu under Soke LaMonica at the Eighth Light Dojo in Akron Ohio. He was impressed by the art and felt he finally found the right one for him. Being in law enforcement he sees the advantages of studying Hakko Denshin Ryu.
